FREELY SHARING THE TRUTH OF REALITY

Thursday, April 1, 2021 11:22 AM

To be with someone who is dying, or at the actual time of death is truly a sacred gift. Larry & I visited with Richard for an hour & a half. He had a lot he wanted to share, much of which is the peace he has over what otherwise would be situations to easily be anxious and upset about. He said that he would tell the guys (@ Luke 15 House) that "It's an inside job!" "No one can do it for you!" He confidently declares that it's only by totally surrendering to God's grace that, he's been clean & sober for 9 years; restored his relationship with his daughter; married a loving & courageous woman; and endured his 3 year battle with cancer with peace & courage; and most certainly that he would be so lovingly cared for as he prepares for his final & eternal home. We told him that we could just be quiet together, as the more he talked the more difficult breathing became. 'To love and be loved', comes to mind right now. That's was the gift we each received. Since knowing Richard, I have witnessed the impact of his constant expression of gratitude, not only for the men in recovery, but for myself. I have learned a lot from him. He said that when the pain is unbearable, its hard to suffer courageously and offer it to God. As a friend reminded me in my struggle "Jesus asked His Father to take His suffering from Him, but then said "Not my will but Yours be done!" It was reassuring for Richard to be reminded of that.

OK, I guess there's a reason I'm having trouble posting today, the site keeps disappearing before I can post.

I got a message this morning that Richard had a horrible night. He struggles the most in the mornings usually. I was told that the nurses, doctor & caregivers from Fraser Health have been exceptionally loving and kind in their care for Richard. God bless them and all health care workers, especially in these times.     Please continue to pray for Richard and for all those who care for him. Thank you! God bless you.

***I just got another message that Richard has to go to Bby. Hospital again, as his pain is unmanageable in a home setting. What a battle he's fighting! God have mercy on him!
