Hello! Happy Easter! Our Easter was very different. We weren't sure we were having anyone over for dinner on Sunday, but I cooked all day Saturday, in case there would be.
Saturday evening I phoned a friend to see how her dad was doing, after he fell and broke his hip. (He has since had his surgery & is doing well!) She asked if we'd like to come for dinner. We did! We went to Mass at 4:00 then over to their home. It turns out that because my friend Maureen was at hospital with Grandpa, that left her hubby & 16 yr. old daughter to take care of dinner. As it turned out, 16 year old Kalina did the cooking, while Dad coached her. It was amazing, the amount of dishes she prepared. The company was lovely food delicious & hospitality, always wonderful.
My cousin & her hubby opened their home for the afternoon. There were 19 all together from 2 of the Finnigan families. A surprise visit, from Prince Rupert, was our nephew's wife who was here visiting her family. There were a hand-full of children (that were not at all a 'hand full'). Among the bunch of munchkins were my sister's grandson, Finn who is 6 and my cousin's twin grand-daughters who are 7. The 3 of them hit it off famously. It’s the 2nd time we meet the twins. They came to the last family picnic on my birthday, which happens to be their birthday also.
Easter Monday, was our long awaited 'Finnigan Clan' picnic at a park. Well, the weather man was true to his word for the previous 2 weeks, of long range weather forecasts. !00% chance of rain. So, plan B.
Oh, the Easter food I prepared? No problem, we've been taking care of it and sharing a lot, especially the baking. Almost gone now. Pea soup tomorrow will finish off the 'jambon'!
Hope you had a blessed Easter weekend. Take care. xoxo
