ONE WEEK OF INCREDIBLE FAITH HOPE & LOVE

9:23 PM

Well, it seriously began on Canada Day, Larry's trip to hospital. On the 4th day of headaches (which he never gets) and acting strangely slow & almost dazed, he said "I think I’m having a stroke. I can't see my hand (as he held it out) on the right side." Everything since then has been very intense. Unlike his relaxed wave to you, from above, there is absolutely nothing relaxed about all that is keeping him alive this week.

We realized, since having the surgery on Monday (4th), being totally dependent on many I.V.s & tubes down into his throat, & being monitored every second by nurses, that the statement by his surgeon: "The surgery went well, & wasn't as bad as we thought it might be…" It seems that meant, "We are happy that it saved his life." Without the surgery, Larry would have died, as the brain continued swelling with no where to go, causing fatal damage. A very risky issue was due to the blood thinners he was on to dissolve 2 blood clots, then danger of too much bleeding from surgery. He received platelets before they opened him up, which are contrary to dissolving the clots. From the scan yesterday, it appears that swelling of the brain is decreasing, since it was able to expand through the space where the piece of skull was removed, then start shrinking back.  It's a balancing act, in trying to reduce sedation, so they can ask him to move fingers, toes, eyes, without his blood pressure climbing (which it does). They seem to have found the right recipe today, as they were able to remove the tubes from down his throat that breathe for him, & insert oxygen tubes into his nose. Larry was breathing very heavily, but it became less laboured as the day went on. The doctor (who is so lovely) yelled at Larry to move his toes, fingers, eyes & stick out his tongue. Yeaaaaah Larry, you did it. It was wonderful to see. We were all doing the happy dance.

The rhythm of the monitor movements are becoming more familiar to us. We were really watching his breathing & blood pressure. I like to believe that the steadiest his breathing was & lower blood pressure numbers, were when I was singing to him, close to his ear. "You'll never know just how much I love you!", "Peace is flowing like a River" and praying the beautiful powerful healing prayer over him.

My morning started out very crazy today (see it in the pics). After being assessed in RCH E.R. the outcome took the dreaded fear away, that I was having a stroke. Yes… me! 'Droopy mouth' on left side. The good news? 'Bells Palsy'.

Each day there have been several family visiting. The morning started with Jason being there & reporting that "Dad was trying to open his eyes!" Shane drove me home around 5:00 today. I enjoyed dinner & took my steroid & shingles medications. I filmed a crazy video, & I just can't down load it. See, that's when I'd call "Larrrry", & he'd fix it for me. From the video, one might think I'd lost it, as I finished by saying "The Lord look upon you kindly, and give you a kiss!"   So that's where I'll say "Good night!" with a giggle. I'll call the giggle 'Grace'!

An average 40 requests a day come to me, on how Larry's doing. I just can't look at my phone sometimes. Thank you for understanding.  (Again, no proof reading. I hope it gives you a picture of what's going on.)
