Hello, thank you for checking in! Larry's day was much like the past few, with the horrible attempts to cough up, interrupting every minute, for the first hour I was with him. He doesn't fight the suctioning, as horrible as it is, because he rests/sleeps for 1 or 2 hrs. following. His neuro-surgeon saw Larry before I arrived & ordered a chest and stomach x-ray, as well as a covid test. There is some fluid in his lungs, that his body will absorb (I don't know how long that will take). His feeding tube was pushed down another 5 inches, to avoid his coughing, moving it out of position, which would cause serious problems. The covid test results will come in tomorrow.
I got a ride today from a friend who just happened to have to go to the building across from the hospital this morning. I was alone all day with Larry, except for a wee visit from our nephew & niece & Abby, our very special girl. Uncle Larry's silly buddy, when we take her on dates. He actually said quite loudly "Hi Abby!" with eyes stretched open. She sure liked that. The highlight of our day.
The surgeon also said that Larry is no longer in need of specialized neurological care, so he will be moved to Ridge Meadows in a couple of days. When the nurse told me that, I flipped and said "Absolutely not!" I haven't & won't give details, but the care Larry received (or lack of it) could have cost him his life. I'm being coached by family to demand that he not go there. Well, there is no such thing these days. I went from 'reacting' to the news with a protest, then thought about it, which turned to 'responding'. Even if I could say "I demand he be taken to such n such hosp." I have no idea what guarantee there is anywhere. Then I heard this "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding!" Right! There we have it! Enough said!
Coming home, I got a ride from my dear friend, who is very savvy in banking/financial things. Here's my confession… I have never paid a bill on line, and don't want to learn a new trick right now. My brain can't take it for now. So together with Shane, apparently it wasn't all that bad. The concern over finding passwords, wasn't an issue at all. So, for you who may be in the same boat as me, 'not the bill payer', get on it RIGHT NOW!
Another relief is that for Larry's Driver Rehab business, his brother Gordon has offered to handle it, whatever that means. I have introduced him to a couple of people that are in the know, and hopefully will be able to manage whatever needs to be managed.
My strong, gentle, hunkasuarus Larry has always been a man of great patience. In this time of the ultimate test, he is such a champion, stepping up to the plate each time he needs to be violated by horrible procedures. He rarely whispers a word, but each nurse has said he's so sweet & a star patient. And no, they don't say that for everyone, because they receive so much abuse from patients & family each day, they are so grateful for the love that lives in Larry's room between him and every one of his loved ones.
Thank you for your loving support. We are living the miracle. Hard, maybe to see right now, but all part of the journey of our 'champion'! God bless you!
