Hello. Thank you for joining us.
Today, as I arrived the dialysis nurse was just 'unplugging' Larry from the machine. She used the new permcath that was inserted yesterday. She also did a great job of cleaning up the bloody mess that the one in his neck had created. Once she completely removed it, she applied a jell to help it heal with extra thick gauze. Larry's care nurse was the same as yesterday. Her shift today is from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. tonight, due to the unit being short staffed. She cares so much for him (and me). His lower digestive tract has had difficulty for 5 days (polite way to say it). Each day something is done to help, but nothing yet. More laxative tonight. He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable.
Larry was Mr. Sleepyhead today. The coughing started an hour into the visit and lasted the day, with a few breaks. He didn't open his eyes for 4 hours, and when he did, he was focused on me. I asked for a kiss & he cooperated (not my imagination). I know a kiss when I get one or 2 or 3! Wasn't going to let that opportunity pass by.
Our dear friends from Pender Harbor dropped in. We haven't seen them in over 2 years. Thankfully, Larry opened his eyes & kept focused on them for a time. Another invite to go fishing. That always grabs Larry's attention. They told him of the 4 or 5 Orcas that were swimming in a nearby bay, salmon fishing. (Diane & I became friends in 1981 on the back of a donkey cart, at a preschool outing with our sons.) We had a good visit on the way home & a quick bite. They added a beautiful pot of plants to our balcony garden.
Did you see the sky around 5:30 tonight? It was so gorgeous. Beautiful thick white billowy clouds against a bright blue sky, with sun rays steaming through. (I did not take the above pic.) Wonders of nature like that are like a kiss on an owie… always make me feel better. Also, if you look up tonight or tomorrow night & think you're seeing Northern Lights, chances are that you are. They are being predicted. I hope you get to enjoy this magnificent wonder of nature.
Carpe Diem! Seize the Day! That's what I'm going to do with tomorrow. Good night. God bless you.
