THERAPIES (09.07.22)
Hello, welcome to today!
He was sound asleep throughout the day. Very peaceful he was, with no itching and almost no coughing. When he finally roused, he wanted out of bed. That's not something that happens around shift change. He told me tto make sure he's awake when they want to get him out of bed. Little did he know how hard I tried tgroughout the day. Eyes open, max10 seconds each time. Shane came on his lunch break,to Dad taking 1 or 2 peeks at him.
When I arrived, Larry was sound asleep after having done physio in the gym, occupational therapy & swallowing assessment. His treat for the day is an ice chip following oral care. He told me later that it wasn't great.
Jason'scoming in a bit, so I hope the new shift of nurses will oblige us & transfer Larry to a chair.
No doom & gloom talk today, thank goodness. So that's our exciting day! Larry's feed tube schedule is starting to change fr 24 hr drip, to 3 x 6 hr intervals, to see how his stomach tolerates it.
I witnessed a few very uplifting scenes today, that refreshed my memories of joyful periods in life. The 1st was a cluster of teens on ea corner of an intersection, so animated, heading off to somewhere for their lunch break. I hoped that each student was free to just be themselves & accept others to do the same. The next was a young couple of student nurses, falling in love, as they sat across fr each other dreamy eyed when the other spoke. The 3rd was a new mom with her 3 day old baby, while waiting fo her husband to pick them up. The gaze of a new mommy or daddy upon their new babe, is so beautiful.
Ok, thats it for today. Nurse just said ok to Larry sitting in the chair for a bit. This is her 3rd shift with Larry. She just told him he feels like her family, as she spends more time with him than her family.
