EACH DAY BUILDING ON THE ONE BEFORE (11.03.22)

Thursday, November 3, 2022 7:40 PM

Hello! Thanks for dropping in!  (The pic is looking north from the hospital at the Lougheed Mall area & Burnaby Mtn.)

Today was similar to yesterday. Larry told me that he took a few more steps, walking down the hallway. He had his 2nd therapy by 11:00.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner, today. He wasn't impressed with the minced toast & egg. He enjoyed the omelet, carrots, soup & pudding at lunch. Dinner was much like yesterday's, with ground chicken, mashed potatoes, broccoli & soup. He started by eating 1/2 a banana first. He's not too impressed with the drinks, as they are all thickened & some not too sweet. He let the dietitian know how much he likes his milk.

Until now, any pills he's had to take were crushed & injected into his feed tube with water. Well, he tasted those bitter pills today & it wasn't nice. He's really got to drink throughout the day, to keep his liquids up. The dietitian came to see him & was very attentive with great alternatives for some of his un-favorites. To watch him eat is a very solemn vision. He did have his head-set on, listening to his favorite 'Fr. Mike' podcasts.

He was in & out of sleep for Shane's visit. Although, Shane said he really saw a difference, since coming back from out of town last week. It almost seems that the dark rainy days have a somber influence on the mood of patients. It was a quiet day all around.

   Take care. God bless you

Hope you can make the most of each day & nurture relationships. Each day I see how cruel severe illness is, especially when it hits younger people suddenly. From a full life one day, to lying in ICU the next.
