BRINGING LIGHT TO THE DARKNESS

Today I completed all the tests ordered by the Cancer Clinic. Yesterday, I was served by someone at Ridge Meadows and another at Eagle Ridge Hospital, who served me with great kindness and cheer, as well as another today at a lab. It wasn't so with each staff person I encountered, as the stress of their work in these very demanding times, is understandably taking its toll. I can't even imagine the added challenges! I try to make a point of telling those in essential services, whether medical or otherwise, that I appreciate their service. And when they are particularly kind, I let them know that it means a lot to be treated with such kindness. They need to know how valued they are. More than ever, we all need to hear and speak kindness in our encounters with one another.
Over the next few weeks, it's a time of waiting for the surgery, while making the most of each day. Hopefully the tests I've gone through will reveal no surprises.
My life has been so enriched by the loving kindness in the messages and gestures of so many. I am grateful too for those who have asked me to pray for their intentions. Most especially I am praying for a 2 year old little girl who has leukemia. I've lost count of the names on tags that are on our 'prayer tree'. Each one is included in my daily thanksgiving and prayer for God's grace for all.
Hoping you are finding ways that bring light to the challenge of darkness this pandemic brings, for yourself and for others. God bless you! Xoxoxo Catherine
