RADIATION =15 DOWN, 10 TO GO

Thursday, July 29, 2021 8:24 PM
Hello! I was pleasantly surprised when I did the math today on where I'm at in the 25 radiation therapy appointments. 10 to go! They are getting a lot easier to manage and calculate the 'full bladder' required 'right on time'. Each day this week was under 20 minutes from putting on the gown, to returning to Larry in the waiting area. Almost each day, we've done something fun following the appointment, including visit Mill Lk. Near Abbotsford Hospital, where my last video was filmed from. I did manage to get a dragonfly in the same photo as the lily, it's not great, but I got it!
Tuesday, we met with the radiation oncologist. She answered the questions I had and was very encouraged about the fact that I'm blogging. She said, that I'll never know who I have helped by sharing my journey. Some of you have expressed that in one way or another. I said at the beginning "If this benefits just one person, it's worth it!"
The oncology nurse that escorted us to the doctor's office said that my name was very familiar. When I asked hers, we both clicked "Cursillo". We've known each other since 1999 but haven't seen each other for several years. She was so sweet and excited. When she said good-bye she kept blowing kisses from her mask. It was a lovely reunion. She assured me that she's praying for me every day.
Today I saw my G.P. to straighten out some issues with meds. Ever since the severely low blood pressure, following my last chemo therapy, there was a switch made, that brought on edema (fluid retention) . It's still an issue, and we're working through it. Yesterday, Larry melted ice cubes on my feet. That was great.
My blurred vision seems to have cleared this week (chemo side effect). And my hair has started growing back.  It's about 4 weeks following the 3 week effects of the last chemo treatment.  Looking forward then, at the next 9 week chemo routine, hair may start again at the beginning of December. No bow in my hair for Christmas though.
Re: the heat wave this week. We're trying different things to help cool our place down. I hope you are able to find comfort and certainly get a few good hours sleep at night.
God bless you! Take care! xoxoxo
