MOM'S HAND IN MINE

Friday, August 27, 2021 7:25 PM
Hi!  Yesterday during my 5 hr. chemo session I had some close encounters with my beloved belated Mother-in-Love, Katherine Barbara Lovrenic Bowen!
Being highly sedated seriously affected my visual perception (eye-hand coordination). I could see myself as Mom, picking inside a bag, where 'I knew' my sandwich was. I could see it, but after removing everything, it wasn't there. Poor Mom went through that every day. Even though I was so out of it, I knew people were watching me. I'm sure Mom did too.
When she was quiet, I would hold her hand In mine. She had beautiful, strong hands. Her nails were always lovely, especially in the last few years as her granddaughter Rheanna made sure of that for her. "O kay Grammy, let’s make those nails beautiful!"
Mom's whole life was made up of hard work and it showed in her arthritically altered knuckles. I always saw that as such a beautiful testament to her always giving to others through her hard work. My pointer finger hasn't pointed strait for a while, with a nubby knuckle. Each time I look at it, I think of her! I miss her!
My treatment went well yesterday. We stopped for a muffin & coffee at Bruce's Market under an awning, sheltered from the rain. We never could have done that after my last round of 3 chemo sessions, I was too out of it.
Got home, feeling good.(buzzed), walking wonky, stubbing toes.Chicken soup at 7:00 bed at 11:00.  I woke up at 2:30 more buzz. Googled 'Thai street food recipes' until 5:00 then back to bed until 9:45. Good stuff! Still feeling good.  Made 'my version' of a Thai/Japanese/Korean rice & veggie pancake. It was yummy & Larry said it would make a great veggie burger. I even cleaned the kitchen.
After the 1st 3 chemo sessions, I couldn't even get off the couoch to make tea for the first few days, so I was/ we were, really enjoying the 'new post chemo me'. I crashed at 4:30 & slept till 6:00. Funny, in my dreams, when I was walking I could feel my feet tripping.
The only 'glitch' I would say, is that my face gets really red, kind of burning, and my feet are swelling. My blood pressure is moderately low, but definitely not in danger zone. So… we'll see.
Gonna go out now for a cool stroll around our court yard beautifully manicured maze garden.
Take care. I love you. God bless you. Thank you for your love & Prayers. I pray for you each day. xooxo
