GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS = PERSPECTIVE
Tuesday, August 31, 2021 7:24 AM
Do you ever have morning events that don't seem to be pointing to the prospects of a good day? When I’m not being cranky, the truth is, with a proper perspective, I know that it's my choice.
Got up at 5:30, wishing for a little more sleep. Felt for my glasses on the dining table (in the dark) and hit a full glass of water onto papers & table cloth. Grateful not to step on my glasses that had fallen on the floor. Cleaned up mess. Already feeling sorry for myself, with the peripheral neuropathy (leg pain) keeping me awake through the night.
Spent time in my morning reflection & journaling. Of course, now feeling much better and the rainy day becoming brighter.
First thing I saw when I went to check for emails, was this picture of Penticton, a place where most people who grew up in the lower-mainland, spent many, many summers. Most of the photos of BC wildfires have not been of areas I am so familiar with. In a flash, this image put so much into perspective. How many people working to save so many areas in our province, only wished they could sleep till 5:30? I can't imagine the pain and fatigue their bodies are experiencing, let alone the emotional/mental exhaustion.
God bless each person who is giving so unselfishly and courageously for the sake of so many whose homes, businesses & lives are in danger.
I choose to make the best of this day, pushing through 'stuff' in my road...there is so much beyond it!
Don't know what kind of day you're having, but hope another perspective can make it not only bearable for you, but that you can be gracious and generous to others who may be dealing with their own 'wild fire'.
