REALLY HEARD, VALIDATED & VALUED

Today was my usual pre-chemo consult with the oncologist, except that she (Dr. Gurjal) is away, and a young resident in family medicine saw us. We've never witnessed or experienced such an enthusiastically interested, compassionate doctor ever. He's a sponge for knowledge & wanted to know every side effect & especially this last one with the terrible weakness & fatigue,  hoping to reduce or eliminate it this time.  He made sense of so many things. He also was very thorough explaining about my meds and how to adjust them through this next chemo period & then, when & how to wean off of them down the road.
It's very evident how much he loves learning. I told him how obvious it was that he loves what he is doing & what a great doctor he is. It's heartwarming to know how thoroughly he's learning about cancer & chemo, & how he will help patients in his family practice eventually.
I don't know why, but I got the giggles before the appointment, however I do know why I was skipping and singing on the way out. Larry & I agreed that it was the best experience with a doctor (as good as some of them have been) that we have ever had.
We stopped by the Stave River on the way home (to check out the fishing)! It was so beautiful to stand on the foot bridge with the rushing river beneath us and the salmon swimming up-stream. It filled me with such peace!
We went to the cranberry field after that, and witnessed men riding the machines that loosen the berries from the vines so they'll float. The beauty will come tomorrow when this acreage will be a cranberry lake. I'm lovin' it all!
I told Larry to go back to Stave with his fishing rod! There was no hesitation! I'm so grateful that he is able to enjoy his very favorite out-door pleasure! Hopefully there'll be more days like this as salmon season is happening.
Hope you get to enjoy this beautiful day! Take care! God bless you! Thank you for your encouragement.
