Hello again, Big move for Larry, from ICU with so many wires & monitors, to High Acuity Unit. As with ICU, HAU is a unit in the hospital where critically ill patients are cared for by specially trained staff. Larry has a large corner room with lots of windows. He has less wires hooked up to him, which is lovely, as I can stroke his chest or arm without having to hop over a cluster of hook-ups. He was moved during the night shift. When I called the unit it was our beautiful friend Michel who picked up the phone. I barely said my name & she enthusiastically updated me on Larry. 

  My sis-in-love Linda took me in. Larry wasn't as lively as yesterday, but he did open his eyes a little wider and really look at us. The recliner chair he was in was super. I could hug him and get (kind of) snuggle my head into his neck.

Throughout the day, when he was awake it wasn't for very long. He still commented on the things I spoke to him about. He's super polite, please & thanking.  His nurse today was Courtney, which he liked, as that's the name of our daughter-in-love! She was so kind and lovely.  It's hard to see him struggle so much to try and clear his chest. Also, he is not happy about the wrist restraints, constantly asking for them to be taken off. He was so alert and interacted so much yesterday for the first time since surgery, it must have worn him out. Hard to believe this is day 13 since his stroke and day 9 since his surgery. A week ago today, I was in emergency thinking I was having a stroke. The bell's palsy meds finish today. It seems to still be progressing. Our G.P. called me today to check in on Larry & my facial issue. I told him it doesn't bother me, as I just happy it wasn't a stroke.

  I read many of the emails that came in from folks expressing their great love for him & how much they have inspired & helped them. It's such a beautiful gift to both of us.
