Thank you for being with us today.
Larry's transfer from Ridge Meadows ICU to Surrey Memorial Hospital ICU took place at noon today. When we arrived he had just been brought in and there was much, much work to do in hooking him up to so much life supporting apparatus. This ICU is equipped with dialysis machines, which Larry will be on for 24 hrs a day until his kidneys start returning to good health, then gradually weaned off of it.
We sat in the waiting room, which is spacious and comfortable. This wing of the hospital is only a few years old. It was designed so beautifully. We've seen several hospital rooms over the past three weeks, and this one is like a ball room, with no one stepping over anyone to work around Larry in his bed. The ICU rooms have a sofa & arm chair for family to visit. His nurse today explained clearly much of what was happening with Larry & all the apparatus that is attached or inserted into him in much of his body.
Larry looks more peaceful today, even with so much happening to him. He only makes breathing sounds, not that distressing cough, cough, coughing that continually disturbed his rest, exhausting him. We took turns stoking him and speaking to him. Although there is no visible response, his spirit knows the love that is being shown to him.
I am being so well taken care of. Shane & Courtney picked me up on their way in and Linda joined us to just 'Be!' She took me for dinner which was a treat, then brought me home. Last night, at midnight, desperate to contact immediate family, when the hospital phoned me to come in, it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped. With team effort they were all informed. Our son Jason was in Vancouver, without a vehicle. It took a quick call to Eric, & Jason was at the hospital within an hour. The generosity of others, especially when we are in desperate need is such a life-giving, gift of selfless love that is very much appreciated. I am surrounded & carried by so many that are bringing light to the darkness of these trying days.
God bless each of you who give from your heart, without question. We are so blessed by you. xoxo
