SOME LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
Friday, July 29, 2022 7:30 pm
Hello, thank you for checking in on Larry & me!
Our friend Louise drove me in & stayed for a little visit at noon. Larry was deep in sleep. I spent the rest of the day with him and it was quite like yesterday. He tried harder today, and more often to open his eyes. I would come close on his left side, as on the right side he cannot see. Once, while he was not stirring, I closed my eyes, sitting beside him, rubbing his leg with one hand and holding his hand with the other. I looked up & his eyes were wide open for the first time. I'm so happy I didn't miss it. I was so grateful that he wasn't just looking at the blank wall. It was so exciting to have him look at me. I asked him to squeeze my hand if he could see me. *That was my moment* for today. I got so excited! Then when he became still again, I crashed. The energy yesterday over his exciting progress, caught up with me & wore me out… in a really good way. Knowing that he is hearing & recognizing more each day, I played songs on the tablet that he really loves, and many he's played himself. Gordon Lightfoot is always a sure bet., oh yes, then there's the Everly Brothers. 'Hillsong' sing beautiful Christian music in a very soothing style, he stirred a little during that. Nothing noticeable for 'Caledonia' today. Yesterday was the best.
Larry's nurse was the same as yesterday and took very good care of him again, today! He is very considerate toward me as well.
A friend I have not seen in at least 10 years, contacted me asking 'desperately' if she & her hubby could do 'anything' for me/us. She was excited when she realized that we both now live in Pitt Meadows. Our reunion was in the lobby of the hospital around 5:30 tonight. Wonderful conversation on the way home, and a beautiful meal that will last me 3 nights. She is as lovely, enthusiastic and as kind as ever. We know each other through the Cursillo Movement & her hubby had participated on weekend teams with Larry.
Word about Larry keeps spreading near and very far away. We are grateful for each person who is giving their heart in some way for Larry's & my sake.
Good night. God bless you! Hope you manage to somehow feel refreshed from the discomfort of the heat. I freeze all day in Larry's room, as it Is kept very cool. I won't complain about the heat, since I just heard the news about Lytton's fires again.
God bless you. Take care! I very much feel your support & love and share that with Larry every day. He knows & feels the tremendous outpouring of love. xoxo
