SOUPER DONE WITH MESSY THINKING (09.18.22)

Hello!
I'll be so glad when 'that meeting' will be here, so I don't keep running 'what I'm going to say' through my head along with what I think the hospital team is going to say.
Before you think I didn't find anything good in this day, I'll share some positives from today. Our friends brought their 17-month-old granddaughter to church. Whenever anyone approached her for a hello, she'd turned her head away, into Granny's neck. I was making fishy kisses at her, and she leaned into me for a kiss. Woohoo! So sweet.
It was a quiet day for Larry, other than two brief visits: one from Aunt Rosie & Laurie to say good-bye before heading back to Williams Lake. He has really appreciated the special visits from them over the past week. Also, there was a visit from Fr. James & Seminarian Jerome! Larry was so pleased to see them. Always great banter with Fr. James as well as loving encouragement, along with prayers & a blessing.
Larry did not leave his bed today. No therapies at all! When I asked the nurse, for Larry to be transferred to a chair at 4:30 I was told he'd have to stay in it until 8:00 as they had a lot to do. This was day 4 with a nurse that ignores protocols for Larry's positioning to help with his pressure sores. 90 minutes is the most he can tolerate sitting up in a chair with the pressure on his bottom where the huge sores are. I've seen many nurses over Larry's 79 days in hospital & I'm sorry to say that I've never been more frustrated as now. Please pray for her.
Larry & I attempted to play cards. We started playing cribbage & both forgot how to count our scores. We watched a little YouTube on the tablet. I played a song that was sung at Mass today, that Larry used to sing a lot. He mouthed the words as it played, but no sound from his voice. I brought his mandolin, as I could not manage his heavy guitar. He played a little & got frustrated, saying that he couldn't get a good grip. It's quite loud, but I told him that whatever he was playing sounded good.
Larry has received a few sweet videos from some of the family & friend young 'munchkins' in our lives. I recorded brief greetings from Larry to them & sent them off. One little guy, while waiting for his mom in church, had a piece of paper & pen and wrote a beautiful prayer for "Larry to get 100% better, NOW!" All of the cards, pictures & videos the children have made are such treasures, lifting our hearts each time we look at them.
I don't want to talk about tomorrow. I'm too tired now, but I've written notes, along with Mary-Lynn's input as well as from friends who have worked in health care, which I'll type out in the morning. I'm just surrendering all into God's hands & hoping that I can & will approach this meeting calmly & rationally. Not sure when it's going to happen. I was told to confirm the time today with the Social Worker, when I did, she said the time was set for 11:00. I've asked it to change to after 2:30 tomorrow or Tuesday, to accommodate family. It didn't sound too promising.
Larry's bro. John & El were going in for a visit a bit after I left, when he was wide awake. I hope they have a good visit.
Oh, "The messy picture?" you ask! It's of my dinner on the way out to the balcony! I was hoping to enjoy it in the fresh cool evening air? Well, the bowl slid off of the plate. When I saw the mess, I instantly felt that it reflected how I was feeling... whatever that is. I didn't cry over spilled soup, I just saw my reflection in it! I'm letting it go now! Gonna take a dose of positivity & gratitude & hit the hay! God bless you! Stay tuned! Thank you for your concern, support & prayers.
