DAY 100! ONE DAY AT A TIME! (10.09.22)

Welcome & thank you for being companions on our journey together! One day at a time for sure! Sometimes one hour & often one minute at a time, in ICU.
So happy for the time my brother Tim spent with Larry, this morning. He texted me saying that Larry seemed asleep but didn't mind him rubbing his feet. Didn't mind? No way would you get Larry's eyes open that way. I just think it's so very special that that intimate encounter between the two brothers-in-love is so natural. Tim did say that when Larry awoke, they shared good conversation.
Yes, Larry was indeed Mr. Sleepy-Head! When I arrived, I saw the physio from 10 days ago, signaling to me in the hall. She was so excited to tell me of how pleased she is with Larry's progress, especially in his upper body strength & movement. She was also pleased with how he answered the questions of the cognitive test: what day is it; where are you; etc. It would be great if she walked in when Larry is laying down sets of cards to win a hand. That's what he did today with Jason & me. He was so sharp, not being disadvantaged by his reclined angle & poor vision. He was even correcting my faux pas, 'which of course were unintentional'. The physio is looking forward to working with Larry again tomorrow. I am so pleased that there was no interruption in his workouts, because of the long weekend.
He's had no nausea since they sorted that out a couple of days ago. We didn't do our swallowing/speech therapy, but I'll be sure to make it happen tomorrow. Last time, he was almost doing scales while reciting vowels, so we'll have some fun with that. If he hasn't used his voice to speak & is coming out of a sleep, it really takes a good warm up, then his voice is clear & his volume is good.
I'll ask what it will take for Larry to move on to a rehab facility! I know that there were so many medical issues that needed to be taken care of & now that so many have, I'd like a clearer understanding of what we're still looking at.
As I prayed our daily healing prayer, close to Larry's ear, he held my hand to his heart & added his "Amen!" to mine. Jason & went to dinner following our visit. No, we didn't have turkey! Jason's going for Thanksgiving dinner to friend's tomorrow & I enjoyed turkey last night & of course I took some home. Shane & Courtney are with her brother's family.
Although my favorite season, Autumn has officially arrived on the calendar, I'm ready to see the beautiful changes in colour & falling leaves. On the 1st leaf covered ground of this season, today at our church, I saw this feather, asking me to take a picture. I look forward to enjoying the many colours that will certainly come before the snow!
God bless you & hope you are enjoying this Thanksgiving in a way that warms your heart & highlights all the gifts you have to be grateful for. xoxo
