A LIVELY DAY (11.14.22)

Hello, welcome to our day!
Larry wasn't going to get any physio today (re: walking), but we got his 'street clothes' & shoes on to feel more like a moving forward day! Just when he finished his lunch, a lovely friend & colleague since the 1980's came to visit. It was wonderful to hear them recount the good old days & who might still be around working at the centre today. It really lifted Larry to tell his friend how far he's come & how he never had a clue as to how hard it was for the patients that he'd done therapy with. He agreed with Ian, that they might have been too sympathetic & not give the patient the right amount of push they needed, to achieve as much as they could.
Larry's therapy today, was 1st a hand massage followed by exercises for his arms with a ball. He also wheeled himself out to the elevators & back, working his arms & legs. He just went back to bed when he got a surprise visit from his sister who hasn't been able to come for a while due to illness. She brought this awesome piece of equipment, like mini stationary bike, kind of, that sits on a table to peddle with your hands. She also observed a couple of behaviors of Larry, that I had gotten used to. He has been taking shorter breaths & sounding excited to tell whatever it is he wants to say. His hands are a little more jittery than usual. I called the nurse to talk with her, to check into the meds that Larry is taking, thinking it might be an effect of the meds to help him sleep at night & pick up his gloomy attitude of recent weeks. I can never say how grateful I am for her keen observations & care for Larry's many, many concerns over these past months. We love you sooooo much Mary-Lynn.
A new 'hospitalist' doctor today, just getting to know details about Larry's situation. Head physio not in today, so I hope tomorrow to have a chat re: Larry's moving forward in what being transferred looks like.
Another surprise visit came from Larry's brother from the Island. Larry's not quite used to the fact that Gordon doesn't live on the mainland any more. I was on my way out when both siblings came & I know they'll have a great visit.
Please pray for Lisa, Larry's 'neighbour' who will have a PET scan tomorrow, after 4 weeks of a serious, but un-diagnosed condition.
I went to a Cursillo gathering this evening & met a couple of young men who came originally from Panama & from Mexico. It's wonderful how our Cursillo movement is international & people find their way to local gatherings, no matter where in the world they are, just as we did, when we went to Mallorca, Spain 6 yrs ago & Larry grouped with 4 men in Palma. Friends who call me Miss Daisy & drove me often to Surrey to visit Larry when he was there, drove me tonight as well as provided me with dinner. Well, my cell phone didn't come home with me. I wasn't sure if I left it at the church, or in their car. You don't want to do that, as getting in touch with 'whomever' isn't so easy, when the only place that their number is stored, is in the phone you lost. Well, to the rescue, after much detective work. Thank you everyone who helped solve the mystery & my 'guardian angel' for driving back here to bring my phone to me.
God bless you! xoxo
